Victorian Underthings workshops Part 2 - Petticoats & Bustles
Petticoats and bustles are essential underpinnings for Victorian and Neo-Victorian dress - and often overlooked. With a good bustle and petticoats your skirts will look better and make you feel confident and beautiful from the skin out. We could all use a bit more "pretty" in our lives.
We'll meet on Saturday and Sunday for two weekends in August 2024 - Aug. 2 & 3, and Aug 9 & 10 - this is a 4-day workshop. Classes start at 10:00 am and we'll break for the day at 4:00. Attendance is limited to 3 participants.
The location is TBD.
This workshop is for intermediate and more experienced sewers. If you have basic sewing skills (including if you're a quilt-maker), you'll be fine in this class. Plan to spend some sewing time outside of class on Saturday evening so we can all start in the same place on Sunday.
We'll be using Truly Victorian Patterns - TV 101 Petticoat with Wire Bustle, and TV170 Victorian Petticoats. Besides teaching construction and assembly techniques, we'll be including decorating your undergarments with ribbon and lace.
The cost for the workshop is $260, which includes patterns and bustle hardware (hoop boning, tips, and hoop clamps); if you already own the patterns and have the hardware, you can purchase the workshop only for $160. DVSS members receive a 10% discount. A Luncheon Tea ill be provided. Sorry, we cannot refund registrations; they can be transferred to another person though.
