In this class, participants will learn basic elements of Chinese painting and calligraphy. They will spend time learning basic strokes while painting their choice of still life and writing Chinese characters with a traditional Chinese brush.
The benefits of practicing Chinese calligraphy and painting includes: improving fine motor skills, a source of relaxation and stress relief, a form of meditation and connection with nature.
Yi Che, also known as Teacher Yi, holds a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University and works as the Chinese Program Director at Peregrine School. With a lifelong passion for arts and crafts, Yi enjoys teaching basic skills in Chinese water and ink painting as well as Chinese calligraphy. Having nurtured this love for art since childhood, Yi is excited to share the beauty and history of these traditional crafts with others, inspiring creativity and cultural appreciation.
