Polish Violin Duo Concert
The Frank J. Natale Concert Series will be presenting a free concert by the Polish Violin Duo on the Mount Carmel campus of Quinnipiac University at 7pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023.  This concert will be the first American performance by this gifted duo that who will be visiting Hamden from Lódz, Poland.

The Polish Violin Duo is made up of two violinists: Marta Gidaszewska and Robert Aguniak. The ensemble was founded in 2014. It started at the Mieczysaw Karowicz Secondary Music School in Pozna in the class of prof. Karina Gidaszewska. Currently, Marta is an assistant at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Pozna in the violin class, while Robert is a PhD student of the Grayna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in  Lódz  in the violin class of prof. Karina Gidaszewska.

Marta and Robert have been taking part in international violin and chamber music competitions around the world for years, always winning top prizes. They have over 200 awards including competitions held in Japan, USA, Estonia, Serbia, Denmark, Greece, Sweden, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Germany, and Poland.  As a duo, they conduct lively concert activities. In December of 2022 they performed in Las Vegas, San Diego and New York during a concert tour entitled Polish Music on Stage organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance in Poland. In February of 2023 they had a series of concerts in France, that included events in La Reole, Cap-Ferret and Bordeaux. They also had an opportunity to play a recital during an International Gala in Beijing. In Poland, they are a well known chamber music ensemble that performs during various festivals and concert series including concerts with the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Lublin Philharmonic, the Subcarpathian Philharmonic, the Pozna Philharmonic and NOSPR in Katowice.

In 2021 in cooperation with the DUX record company, the duo recorded their first feature album, making the world phonographic premiere of duets for two violins by the Polish forgotten composer from XIX century - Joachim Kaczkowski.  Their second album was released in December 2022 and it includes works for two violins by polish composers of the XX century: Bacewicz, Paciorkiewicz, Spisak and Weinberg.

The Polish Violin Duo was nominated for the most important award given within polish classical music circle - Coryphaeus of Polish Music" in the category of the "Discovery of the Year. They participated in the program Classical Stage" and "Sunday with the National Institute of Music and Dance" on TVP Kultura  a Polish national television promoting high culture. Their recordings, interviews and performances were featured many times on Polish radio stations including Dwójka, Merkury Klasyka and Polish Radio Rzeszów.  Nowadays they cooperate with some of the best contemporary Polish composers, who dedicate their compositions to them - Olga Hans, Sawomir Kaczorowski, Anna Rocawska - Musiaczyk, Wojciech Chaupka and Micha Janocha.  The Polish Violin Duo performs pieces from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th century periods.
