Praised for his "rich, powerful voice" and "bravura-filled stage presence," Neal Ferreira is a nationally recognized lyric tenor known for his cultivated vocalism and eloquent expression. Dubbed a Boston mainstay by the Boston Globe, he recently appeared with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall as Tamino in The Magic Flute, and with Emmanuel Music as Macheath in Benjamin Brittens version of The Beggars Opera. In the spring of 2022, the tenor will return to the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Wozzeck at Carnegie Hall under the baton of Maestro Andris Nelsons. He will also perform the role of the Ring Announcer in a new production of Terence Blanchards
Champion with the Boston Lyric Opera.

A much sought after interpreter of new music, Mr. Ferreira made his European debut in
the spring of 2021 as Laertes in the world premiere of Joseph Summers Hamlet with
State Opera Rousse, Bulgaria. Ferreiras successful performance as the Visitor in Boston
Lyric Operas production of Philip Glass In the Penal Colony was called poignant by
the Wall Street Journal and perfect by Opera News. The tenor has also been featured on
the premiere recordings of Charles Wuorinens Haroun and the Sea of Stories
(BMOP/sound), Joseph Summers The Tempest (Albany), Mario Castelnuovo-Tedescos
The Importance of Being Earnest (Odyssey Opera), and James MacMillans Clemency
(BIS Records).

Ferreira has also appeared with Florida Grand Opera, the Glimmerglass Festival, Opera
Colorado, Virginia Opera, Anchorage Opera, Syracuse Opera, American Repertory
Theatre, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and Guerilla Opera.

Mr. Ferreira is currently an Assistant Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music and
also serves on the voice faculty of his alma mater, Providence College. He holds a Master
of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, and he is a proud student
of internationally renowned tenor, Frank Lopardo.

A native of Portland, Oregon, keyboardist James J. Myers is in demand as vocal coach, recitalist, composer and music educator. He has shared the stage with artistic luminaries of our age, including Christine Brewer, Judith Christin, Greer Grimsley, Thomas Hampson, Kelly Kaduce, Jennifer Koh, Robert McDuffie, Morris Robinson, Nadine Sierra, Bruce Sledge, Janet Sung, Christ Thile, and Renée Fleming. He has collaborated with composers Kenji Bunch, Tom Cipullo, Philip Glass, and Jake Heggie, and in masterclasses with Jane Eaglen, Leon Fleisher, Sylvia McNair, John Perry, Martile Rowland, Abby Simon, Nelita True, Wagnerian Linda Watson and the late
violin virtuoso Zvi Zeitlin.

Mr. Myers has supported operatic/symphonic teams in North American and European houses with acclaimed conductors David Angus, Andrew Bisantz, Arthur Fagen, Christopher Franklin, Edward Gardner, Matthew Halls, Alexander Joel, Jeffrey Kahane, Bernard Labadie, Sebastien Lang-Lessing, Peter Oundjian, Ryan Turner, and the late Marvin Hamlisch. In 2008 he was featured on the Kurzweil double synthesizer with Opera Colorados Naxos recording of Nixon in China, under Marin Alsop. In past seasons with Boston Lyric Opera he has prepared Madama Butterfly, Der Fliegende Holländer, Die Zauberflöte, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Katya Kabanova, In the Penal Colony, and The Merry Widow.

A winner of the prestigious Rotary Graduate Fellowship, Mr. Myers holds degrees with distinction from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover (Germany), the University of Colorado at Boulder, and the Eastman School of Music. Past academic positions included Chapman University Conservatory of Music Los Angeles, Pacific Lutheran University, University of Tennesse at Knoxville, University of Northern Colorado and Metropolitan State University of Denver. He and his husband Justin VandenBosch reside in Boston.
