Richben Collins, a brilliant, unpredictable 29 year old storage space heir, drives a forklift around his father's warehouse, musing on what his preferred future could be. A recent, failed attempt at self-harm has brought a new person in his life, Counselor Ava Linsberg.
Set in present day, in an outer borough of New York City, "Reasons", is a new original drama written by Bill McGee. It starts with the fifth meeting Counselor Linsberg has scheduled with her case, Mr. Collins. To date, she believes she's had success, her interviews a balance of lecturing and understanding, her questions aiming to discover in his immature yet wise, cynical yet vulnerable, personality, the core of his disturbance.
This won't be easy. The enigmatic Mr. Collins spontaneously sings aloud in public, fantasizes about bridge jumping and "the other side", freely opines on the nature of fear, the impact of jealousy, and more. "Hashtag? I like hash browns better." "All gift giving is precious, should be done in slow motion.". Unleashed after the societal restrictions have been relaxed, is his happiness restored, or has damage arisen.
In one scene, in one setting, these two characters are engaged with each other. To Counselor Linsberg, the paramount concern is preventing him from harming himself or others. For this purpose, she decides to tell him a story but its information and revelation leads to the entrance of a new character and an unexpected, riveting conclusion.
