Evento

Climate Change Communication
Climate change is acknowledged as a global emergency.  Prospects are dire if we continue with business as usual, yet all the solutions we need to avert climate disaster exist and are actionable.

Our new leaders in Washington are taking strong steps to prioritize this issue, making this an auspicious time to mobilize decision-makers at all levels of business and government.  As constituents, it is crucial that we know how to empower ourselves and other members of our communities to take educate, advocate, and change policies at all levels of society.

This workshop will feature effective strategies for catalyzing significant change, with reference to "Connecting on Climate: A Guide to Effective Climate Change Communication" (Columbia University, 2014).  To put it all in perspective, we will open with an overview of current climate issues and a look at their intersection with inequity and racism.

Presenters:
Climate Change in a Nutshell.  Duane Ediger, Sustainable Tucson board of directors

Going to the Roots.  John Francis, PhD, the first education fellow at the National Geographic Society, associate professor of Environmental Sciences, and author of two books, Planetwalker: 17 Years of Silence, 22 Years of Walking, and The Ragged Edge of Silence: Finding Peace in a Noisy World

Strategies for Effective Climate Change Communication.  Rain Wuyu Liu, assistant professor of Communication, at the University of Arizona, specializing in persuasion, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and social influence, with graduate student Taylor Foerster
