Candacy Taylor at America's Black Holocaust Museum for Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America
Advance registration has ended for this book. A limited number of walk-up spaces are available. Signed copies of Overground Railroad may be available after the event.

From award-winning author, photographer, and cultural documentarian Candacy Taylor comes Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America, the first book to explore the historical role and residual impact of the Green Book, a travel guide for black motorists.

This talk will be held at the soon-to-reopen America's Black Holocaust Museum. ABHM, under the leadership of Dr Robert M Davis, aims to build public awareness of the harmful legacies of slavery in America and promotes racial repair, reconciliation, and healing. Learn more about the Museum at abhmuseum.org.

The Green Book is an important part of this legacy. Published from 1936 to 1966, the Green Book was hailed as the "black travel guide to America." The Green Book listed hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and other businesses that were safe for black travelers. It was a resourceful and innovative solution to a horrific problem. It took courage to be listed in the Green Book, and Overground Railroad celebrates the stories of those who put their names in the book and stood up against segregation.

Admission for this event, held on Martin Luther King Jr Day, is free. Registration is requested. You can also upgrade to a registration with a copy of Overground Railroad included at a special price.
