Songs for Solidarity -- POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19
On Saturday, May 2nd, join us for an evening of music, fellowship, snacks, and solidarity! 100% of the proceeds will directly support four immigrants who are seeking asylum in the United States, and who are currently living with members and friends of First Unitarian.

Our guests are:

      • A father and his ten-year-old son who left Guatemala to find safety and opportunity in the United States.
      • A Cuban woman who was in immigrant detention in fall 2018. She is currently learning English and going through the green card process.
      • A trans woman who was bonded out of immigrant detention in fall 2019. She just joined us in November 2019.

Funds from the concert will cover essentials: food, housing, legal expenses, health care, transportation, and so on.

The concert will feature:

      • Ana Egge
      • Judy Gorman
      • Mario Cancel
      • Lindsey WIlson

Can't attend but want to support? We have a GoFundMe!

Ana's most recent single, "We Are One," co-written with Gary Nicholson, has gathered over five million Spotify spins. RnR called her last album, White Tiger, "wonderful." No Depression deemed it "nothing less than a balm for the soul." In 2019, she released Is It the Kiss, her eleventh album, a new batch of originals of such singularly articulate and affecting honesty and sensitivity that USA Today raved: "[Ana] can write and sing rings around" her contemporaries.

"Judy Gorman shoots the arrow straight to the heart; a wonderful singer and musician." Pete Seeger

"Singing with a dark, rich voice, Judy Gorman brought the idea of international solidarity within reach. No small feat." Boston Globe

First Unitarian's immigrant justice work is a powerful expression of our ethic of welcome. We seek to embody an abundant, universalist love and this work is a way to share that love with some of the most vulnerable among us.
