O'Rourke - Engand Duo in Concert at GHMS

O'Rourke - England Duo make their Renee Weiler Recital Hall debut on June 19, 2019 at 7:30pm. Since 2013, this engaging duo continues to specialize in compositions and arrangments from the 16th - 20th centuries by composers such as Giulio Caccini, W.A. Mozart, Robert Schumann, and Benjamin Britten.

Kathleen O'Rourke, soprano

Soprano Kathleen ORourke is a vocal artist known for her richness of sound, commanding stage presence, and love of languages. A formidable musician and vocal interpreter, Kathleen is praised for her vocal flexibility in repertoire ranging from the Baroque era to modern works by living composers (including musical theater and jazz). Kathleen is on Voice Faculty at the Greenwich House Music School and is the founder and musical director of Twilight Operetta Ensemble. She is also Head Voice Faculty at CTP Studios, a NYC-based music studio. Kathleen completed her D.M.A. at SUNY: Stony Brook, having also completed a M.M. degree in Vocal Performance there. She graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College (Columbia University) with her Bachelor of Music degree. Kathleen was born in Des Moines, Iowa.

George England, guitar/lute/theorbo

A native of Northern California, George currently resides in New York City where he performs and teaches classical/modern guitar and lute. He creates programs that span several style periods and highlight rare works as well as established favorites. George is regularly engaged as an ensemble player, most recently with the New York-based Renaissance group, Ensemble Musica Humana, on vihuela and lute; on baroque guitar and theorbo with Sinfonia Spirituosa, based in Sacramento, California; and with soprano, Dr. Kathleen O'Rourke, in O'Rourke - England Duo. George holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University, a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from California State University Sacramento and Northridge.
