Kristin Andreassen
Doors 7:30 pm
Music: 8:00 pm

Kristin Andreassen is a singer, a writer and a percussive dancer who combines those skills in musical performances that are both inventive (The New Yorker) and haunting (NPRs Folk Alley). Before embarking on her solo career, Kristin toured and recorded with both the stringband Uncle Earl (w/ Abigail Washburn, Rayna Gellert & KC Groves) and the "folk noir singing trio Sometymes Why (w/ Aoife O'Donovan & Ruth Ungar). She became known in those projects especially for the creativity and emotional breadth in her lyrics. Her songwriting spans the playfulness of her #1 hit children's song "Crayola Doesn't Make a Color for Your Eyes (featured on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion and covered by artists of all ages including Tyne Daly and several high school marching bands) and the visceral truth in her war ballad How the Water Walks (Dawn has barely broken when they call us up above / Im thinking only of my life. Sorry, my love.).

With her 2015 studio album debut Gondolier, Kristin began touring under her own name. Her live show made Top 10 lists at Pop Matters and NPRs Mountain Stage last year. A 5th generation Oregonian, Kristin currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kristin has had the privilege of collaborating, recording and touring with a wide range of artists including John Paul Jones and Dirk Powell, (who each produced albums for Uncle Earl), Jeffrey Lewis (with whom she played fiddle and keyboards on several European tours), Mark Schatz (who produced and played bass on her first solo album Kiss Me Hello) and Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble (with whom she toured as a clogger and dance teacher). She has recently performed with or opened for Aoife O'Donovan, Noam Pikelny and Chris Eldridge (of Punch Brothers), Black Prairie, Alec Spiegelman (of Cuddle Magic), Jefferson Hamer, Dawn Landes, Lucius, and many more marvelous artists ranging from folk to anti-folk with diversions in pop and punk along the way.

When called upon to do so, Kristin loves calling square dances. She led dances last year at the Newport Folk Festival, The Winter & Summer Hoot, the monthly Louisville square dance and at a variety of private parties and events. She is also an experienced teacher, especially of dance and songwriting. As the founder and co-director of Miles of Music Camp, she programs and hosts three annual all-ages multi-genre music workshops in Brooklyn, Boston and on a private island in New Hampshire's Lake Winnipesaukee.
