Intro to Permaculture
Introduction to Permaculture

Sunday, March 25 10:00- 12:30 at Beacon Food Forest

Become familiar with basics of Permaculture, known as "permanent agriculture" and "permanent culture." It is a method of designing systems and things that will last, replenish themselves, and create abundance. Permaculture design is used to create places and structures that regenerate food, clean water, energy, biodiversity, and building materials, used by anyone, anywhere.

We will explore ethics, principles, zones, sectors, and the concept of integrating these in order to create appropriate, resilient design. We will also cover the practice of site analysis. After teaching these basics we will practice observing and take an extended site tour of the Beacon Food Forest with hands-on activites Teachers are Jacqueline Cramer and Kimberly Leeper, both permaculture landscape and education professionals, who for many years have been creating abundant, regenerative, permaculture spaces for individuals and community.

-Price: $35/person with sliding scale

Jacqueline Cramer Is a Permaculture  designer, landscaper, educator. She has served the land and community for over 25 years, working with farmers, school gardens, and  urban farming projects.
She runs Earth Care, a landscape company focused on regenerating landscapes, communities and our connections to the land.

Kimberly Leeper is a West Seattle-based, permaculture-inspired designer, educator, gardener, and collaborator.  She has cared for people as a school psychologist and teacher.  And has cared for the land as owner of two sustainable landscaping companies - Mariposa Naturescapes (2005 - 2016) and Oasis Edible Naturescapes with business partner, Aaron Armstrong (2016 to Present).  They mostly focus on permaculture solutions for urban landscapes.  Kimberly is an active volunteer and educator at the Beacon Food Forest, a Native Plant Steward and ecoPro Sustainable Landscape Professional, and past Organizer for Seattle Permaculture Meetup.
