COMMUNITY MUSIC WORKSHOP AND GATHERING WITH ALASDAIR FRASER
Would you like to kick off the New Year with a warmly convivial day of music-making? People of all ages are invited to join master Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser on Saturday, January 3, 2015, for an all-day workshop followed by an evening of ceilidh dancing and jamming.

LUNCH INCLUDED - Attendees are invited to stay after the workshop for a mighty jam session and a pass-the-hat pizza dinner. Guests welcome. Beer, wine and soda will be available for sale.
COST: Advance purchase price for the full-day workshop, including lunch, is $50.00 for adults and $30.00 for youth 12 and younger. The price at the door is $60.00 for adults and $40.00 for youth.
Alasdair Fraser, master Scottish Fiddler, who has inspired and encouraged countless aspiring and accomplished musicians, will hold a special one-day workshop for all string players (fiddle, viola, cello and bass) based on the fiddle music of Scotland and beyond. Woodwinds, guitars, and keyboards are also welcome.
The Goal: We will explore playing traditional music in a group, with emphasis on arrangement ideas and the techniques that give traditional music its unique flavor. We will look at the elements of language and dance, and put fiddle tunes together to form a medley of a larger piece of music. Teaching will be geared toward intermediate to advanced musicians, but enthusiasts of all levels are welcome to attend and encouraged to participate at their level of ability.
-Doors will open at 9:30 am for registration and coffee.
