These pioneers reinvented themselves, becoming a distinctive, thriving community that was at one time the second largest Jewish community in the United States after New York. As Jews integrated into mainstream San Francisco society, they helped transform it into the largest metropolis in the American West. Named one of the Top 10 films of 2013 by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Professor Marc Dollinger, who appears in the film and is Jewish Studies Chair at San Francisco State University, will host a Q & A session afterward.
