TALA

TALA is based on the immigration experiences of Kyoung H. Park, a gay, Korean-Chilean playwright living in America. This surreal tragicomedy merges Park's American Dream with the story of Pepe and Lupe, two lovers inspired by Chilean poets Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral. Delve deep into the absurdities of being an artist and trying to write within the margins of so many broken systems.

The production is written and directed by Kyoung H. Park, performed by Daniel K. Isaac, Flor De Liz Perez, Rafael Benoit. Original music by Svetlana Maras, choreography by Yin Yue, video by John Knowles, and installation art by Jason Krugman .

The creative team of TALA includes Sound Design by Chris Barlow and Lawrence Schober, Lighting Design by Chuan-Chi Chan, Costume Design by Elizabeth Barrett Groth, Dramaturgy by Sarah Rose Leonard, and Set Design by Marie Yokoyama.

TALA will play at The University Settlement (184 Eldridge Street between Rivington Street and Delancey Street) January 8th-January 23rd with performances on Jan. 8th at 5PM, 9PM, Jan. 9th at 5PM, Jan. 10th at 8PM, and additional performances on Jan. 15th-16th and Jan. 22nd-23rd at 8PM.
