LAMPLIGHTER December 12 2014
Back at it with the winter Lamplighter Series, done in the half round with three to four musicians, one of them usually being Peter Mulvey, rotating songs & stories and musicianifying and magicianifying together.
Peter explains it thus:
"People, this is the heart of what I do. I love to get musicians together and to play music in its raw, conversational form. To listen, to jump in without knowing exactly what comes next, to be surprised and enlivened. This is the holy grail for me: to play music as though it's happening offstage, for pure joy and discovery and communication between friends and strangers. And over the past decade or so, first in the winter at my hometown Cafe Carpe, and then over the past three years at my home-away-from-hometown ClubPassim, I've found a way to tease this kind of offstage music into an onstage situation: The Lamplighter Sessions. It changes every year, but then, don't we all? Trust me, you should get to one of these shows if you can. Lightning will strike."

Peter will be joined this night by JOSH HARTY, BRIANNA LANE, and MATT DAVIES.
JOSH HARTY's unique blend of American music has become a must-hear for those who keep the tradition of country, blues and folk close to their hearts. Born and raised on the plains of North Dakota, Josh has continued the old family tradition of playing guitar. His father, both a preacher, and the Police Chief of their small town, was also Harty's music mentor.

BRIANNA LANE is a gifted singer/songwriter in true Americana form. She writes and performs on an acoustic guitar as well as a banjo, crafting songs that are clear-eyed and purewith an integrity derived from her gritty, unflinching emotional honesty.

MATT DAVIES is currently the leader of the Thriftones, a Milwaukee based band, and continues to perform and record music as a band member and solo artist. "Fronted by singer Matthew Davies, The Thriftones can best be described as folk with a generous helping of Americana roots.
