December 18th, Featured Artist, The Mt. Eden Chamber Chorus

For over 18 years, under the direction of Ken Rawdon, the Mt Eden Vocal Music Association has thrived throughout the state of California as well as the Nation. Mt. Eden High School choirs have won numerous awards and are considered one of Northern California's finest vocal programs.

Comprised of twenty-seven auditioned singers, the Chamber Singers is the top group out of a six-choir program involving roughly 140 students at Mt. Eden High School in Hayward, California. The students in this ensemble are also part of the 140-voice Concert Choir at Mt. Eden High School.

The choir has had distinct honors over the years, including performances with the San Francisco Symphony and Chorus. In November of 2003 they received the Mayor's award from the City of Hayward as "Citizens of the year." They perform annually with the Oakland Symphony in their holiday "Break Bread" concert to much acclaim and are wildly applauded by the appreciative standing-room only audiences. They performed in New York City's Carnegie Hall on Easter Sunday of 2003. In 2009 they returned to New York City and performed at Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center.

On May 10, 2015, they will again be performing under the invitation of MANHATTAN CONCERT PRODUCTIONS at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
