Airborne Event presents Tom Carter / Pat Murano Duo, Bob Bannister, and Hallock Hill

TOM CARTER/PAT MURANO DUO:

Tom Carter is an electric guitar improviser well-known from his band Charalambides and many collaborative endeavors.  Most recently, he and synthesizer farmer Pat Murano (of Decimus and No-Neck Blues Band) have been crafting exquisitely cosmic music as a regular duo.  Pitchfork called their new 2xLP "Four Infernal Rivers" "a wonderfully conversational album, a partnership between two restless improvisers"' who are "comfortable with one another's styles and instincts, and respond to one another as old friends."

"To think that these sprawling tapestries of sonic magic were improvised, rather than highly composed, proves just how powerful Tom Carter and Pat Murano are as a team."  The Big Takeover

BOB BANNISTER:

Bob Bannister first gained some public attention around 1990, fronting the post-new wave Television-
influenced quartet Fire in the Kitchen. He subsequently recorded and performed with free-rock improv trio Tono-Bungay for much of a decade. His first solo LP Eight Day Clock (Twisted Village 1992) made minor waves as a home-brew of instrumental lo-fi guitar psychedelia  the sort of record where everyone who admired it went on to make something similar. His second solo release, Dives and Lazarus (also on Twisted Village) has the questionable distinction of its official release date being Tuesday, September 11th. As with Jay-Z's The Blueprint, first week sales were slower than hoped for. Bob had since been a mainstay of the PG Six band, picked up bass for long-running post-no wavers The Scene Is Now, and plays guitar for Escape By Ostrich (ex-Mofungo) and "Great Plains Gothic" folk songwriter Ember Schrag.

HALLOCK HILL:

Since 2011, Hallock Hill has been creating intimate guitar environments that seem like they'd fit into the guitar soli tradition, but speak in a completely unique voice without real precedent.  It's careful music full of questioning -- abstract, but communicating in a narrative and visual way that's unusual for improvisation.

"In a  world overpopulated with acoustic guitar players, [Hallock Hill]'s increasingly refined and focused experiments with such shifting, half-repeating, subtly accreting textures makes his music stand out as having courage and vision where far too many only have technique and tradition."  The Wire
