In 1930s Berlin, as the civil rights of Jews were systematically stripped away, a young rabbi continued to preach the values of Judaism. Expelled from Germany in 1937, Joachim Prinz arrived in America, where he soon realized bigotry was the reality. As a rabbi in New Jersey and President of the American Jewish Congress, Prinz was a prominent organizer of the 1963 March on Washington. He famously declared "the most urgent, the most disgraceful, the most shameful and the most tragic problem is silence." Throughout his career, Prinz spoke out for justice. "For the sake of Zion, I shall not be silent." -Joachim Prinz
