The stories of the early prophets are deeply etched into Western culture because of their ability to beautifully encapsulate the human experience. They encompass tribal rivalries, dramatic changes in leadership and the intrusions of empires through the prism of a Divine-human relationship. Everett Fox is professor in the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture at Clark University and holds the Allen M. Glick Chair in Judaic and Biblical Studies.
