SLO Little Theatre Adventure: a play and a talk-- Kevin Harris and cast & crew of "Picasso at Lapin Agile by Steve Martin"
We'll enjoy a matinee performance of SLO Little Theatre's production of "Picasso at Lapin Agile  by Steve Martin, followed by a talkback - led by SLO Little Theatre Managing Artistic Director Kevin Harris.

The play:  Picasso at the Lapin Agile is written by the iconic comedian/actor/screenwriter/banjo-aficionado Steve Martin. Set in a Parisian bar at the beginning of the 20th century (1904 to be more precise), the play imagines a comical encounter between Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein, both of whom are in their early twenties and fully aware of their amazing potential.

The play takes place in one non-stop scene, lasting approximately 80 to 90 minutes. There isn't much plot or conflict; however, there is a satisfying combination of whimsical nonsense and philosophic conversation.

In addition to the two historical figures, the play is also populated with an amusingly incontinent barfly (Gaston), a gullible yet lovable bartender (Freddy), a wise waitress (Germaine), along with a few surprises that trounce in and out of the Lapin Agile.

The talkback: A talkback is a post-show informal conversation with members of Enchanted April's artistic staff and cast.  Led by SLO Little Theatre Managing Director Kevin Harris, this is a chance to learn about character development from the actor's point of view, and the rehearsal process. You may ask any questions about the show or artistic process and gain more of an insight into the theater works.

Kevin Harris received his MFA in Directing from the University of Iowa (2007), his BFA in Acting from New York University (1996), and his California Teaching Credential from Chapman University. While at NYU, he spent three years at the Atlantic Theatre Company studying acting under David Mamet, William H. Macy, and Felicity Huffman.

In 2005, he traveled to the West Bank and Gaza Strip to co-write and direct an original play with Ashtar Theatre, Palestine's only professional theatre company. The subsequent play, The Era of Whales, has been performed in Gaza, Ramallah, Nablus, Jerusalem, and several international theatre festivals. Currently, he is collaborating on an oral history theatre piece exploring the past, present, and future of the Gaza Strip. Kevin has taught at the University of Iowa, University of Chicago, and has led dozens of workshops on A Practical Handbook for the Actor across the country.  He is very happy to be back on the Central Coast with his two beautiful children, Dominick and Ella
