Brechtoberfest

The great German writer and director of theater, Bertolt Brecht once said "A theater without beer is just a museum." The Drinking & Writing Theater will put that statement to the test with their production of "Brechtoberfest"!

"Brechtoberfest" is the newest show from the Drinking & Writing Theater. Since the show will be performed during the biggest beer festival in the world, "Oktoberfest", why not examine the whole idea of festivals in general? Steve Mosqueda and Sean Benjamin have enlisted the help of veteran Chicago comedian and satirist Jamie Budzick to help answer such questions as what is a festival? What makes up a good festival? And is there really a Mike the Headless
Chicken Festival? Bertolt Brecht serves as a guide as we search for answers using his revolutionary techniques and theories of theater.

Beer, brats, Wagner, pretzels, "Mack the Knife" and surprise guests round out this search for the ultimate festival. Showtime is 4:00 p.m. on Satruday, 9/6, 9/13, 9/27, 10/11. 10/18 and 10/25 at the Drinking & Writing Theater at Haymarket Pub & Brewery, 737 W. Randolph Avenue, Chicago.
