A Cappella & More
A cappella music -- the roots of Soul and R & B, and the driving force in the rich tradition of Gospel music has been the steady backbeat of musical energy on college campuses everywhere for a long, long time. The singer-songwriter movement, rap, and rock 'n roll have driven it underground from time to time, but it keeps exploding onto the musical scene, reinvented and re-energized.
Nowhere is that truer than at Needham High School, where three a cappella ensembles have thrived in recent years: The Subway Dwarves, The Treble Rebels, and the newest, Fermata Nowhere.
These student-run groups blend pop, rock, R & B, and jazz ---pretty much anything that appeals to the singers and their audiences. And they do it with a contagious enthusiasm that gets people rocking.
In addition to the three groups, we'll feature some soloists from the groups and from the richly talented Needham High community.
