MANYA: A Living History of Marie Curie
By Susan Marie Frontczak. Best known for the discovery of radium and radioactivity, Madame Marie Curie was the first European woman to receive a doctorate in the sciences. She was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, and the first person to receive a second Nobel Prize (a feat not repeated for 50 years). Meanwhile, she raised her two daughters as a single mother after the tragic death of her husband. These accomplishments will seem all the more remarkable when you hear about some of the obstacles she faced along the way.
