Funding Your Work: A Workshop for Artists
Funding Your Work combines nuts-and-bolts strategies with a broad-based empowered approach to raising money for your artistic projects. Topics include: making your fundraising materials embody the rigor and character of your work; working in partnership with venues, donors and funders; communicating effectively about your work in writing an in person; and knowing the real cost of your work so you can communicate it to funders, presenters and other partners. A particular focus will be on building a base of individual donors, who account for more than 75% of all the monies given to non-profits.
This Workshop is for artists of all disciplines and levels. Drawing from roundtable discussions, research on best practices in the field, and artists' on-the-ground experience, this workshop incorporates a step-by-step overview of the topic, partner exercises and discussion. The Workshop is based on Creative Capital's acclaimed weekend retreat professional development workshop, which has reached over 2,000 artists across the country and internationally. It will be led by writer/director/educator Aaron Landsman along with filmmaker/Creative Capital grantee Ela Troyano. The maximum number of participants is 24.
