Join us in celebrating the release of Affinity, a new album by queer folk duo Bad Posture Club. With Affinity, Bad Posture Club's signature sparse and honest style is enriched by the soft ambient drone of a 102-year-old acoustic pump organ. The instrument is a "Chaplains Organ," crafted during World War I and played during funeral services near battlefields and aboard ships. A century later, Bad Posture Club seeks a similar purpose: to create something transcendent from the raw materials of daily life in response to a chaotic and deeply troubled world. Still Affinity finds humor in unexpected placessometimes offering a eulogy, sometimes a pep talk.
Bad Posture Club is made up of Maren Day and Morgan Kavanagh, collaborators for over 10 years. Originally from Bellingham Washington, they've spent the last seven years based in Minneapolis as well as touring nationally. Recently, they've returned to the Pacific Northwest where they continue to craft intricate and experimental harmonies, inviting the listener to hear the power in quiet, intimate music.
