ABOUT THE LECTURE
Last summer, Google DeepMind's AI systems made headlines by achieving Silver Medal level performance on the notoriously challenging International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) problems. For instance, AlphaGeometry 2, one of these remarkable systems, solved the geometry problem in a mere 19 seconds!

In this talk, we will delve into the inner workings of AlphaGeometry, exploring the innovative techniques that enable it to tackle intricate geometric puzzles. We will uncover how this AI system combines the power of neural networks with symbolic reasoning to discover elegant solutions.

Furthermore, we will discuss the broader implications of this achievement. How should mathematicians and the public perceive such a powerful reasoning system? What does it mean for the future of mathematics and artificial intelligence? Join us as we unravel the mysteries of AlphaGeometry and ponder the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Junehyuk Jung is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Brown University and a Visiting Researcher at Google DeepMind. His research interests span a wide range of areas including number theory, homogeneous dynamics, hyperbolic geometry, and mathematical physics. He also has been collaborating with research scientists at Google DeepMind to build advanced-reasoning systems towards Artificial General Intelligence.
