EMILY JEANNE BROWN's (she/her) music speaks to the crossing of thresholds: from childhood to adulthood, from west to east coast, from a pre- to a post-pandemic world. A lifelong singer trained as a Shakespearean actor, Brown began her foray into recording during quarantine, with a minimal but visceral cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'i'm on fire', which quickly garnered tens of thousands of streams. Since then, she has released a string of original singles that are a natural fit with the current movement of women in indie-folk pop [boygenius, Maggie Rogers, Fiona Apple, HAIM, Phoebe Bridgers, Sharon Van Etten or even Taylor Swifts latest work] (Aptly Journal), and is known for curating sold out, community-focused shows at New York venues such as Berlin and Sleepwalk. In 2024, Emily released a 3-song EP, Nina, through YouTooCanWoos singer/songwriter imprint, Sunken Living Room, co-produced by Deidre Muro (Deidre and the Dark, Violet Sands, Savior Adore) and Eric Mendelsohn. She has plans to release her first full-length record in 2025.
Hailing from the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York, KATIE MARTUCCI (she/her) grew up singing, and playing fiddle and guitar. After a brief stint of collegiate acapella at Skidmore College, Katie rejected a possible future as a historian at the State Department, and transferred to the New England Conservatory. While at NEC, she studied voice, songwriting and arranging in the Contemporary Improvisation Department, and formed The Ladles with Caroline Kuhn and Lucia Pontoniere. Today, Katie is based in Brooklyn, NY. When she's not playing with The Ladles, Katie performs with the creative collective, Apartment Sessions, leads the Tucci Swing Orchestra, and performs her original music with the Katie Martucci Band.
LILA BLUE (all pronouns) is a twenty-four year old non-binary and queer folk musician, singer-songwriter, playwright and performer based out of New York. They have been performing and composing professionally since early childhood in communally devised theater with the likes of Bread and Puppet Theater and the Lake Lucille Chekhov Project, as well as developing a solo music career. Their projects navigate themes of grief, joy, being queer as the day is long, and collisions with a ghost or two. They have composed music for film and television, most notably for MTV and Lifetime. Lila is one of the 2024 Kerrvilles Grassy Hill New Folk Award Winners for Emerging Songwriters. They released their fourth LP, Sweet Pea, on Nov. 10th, 2023, on MOXE. It's garnered much critical praise including Ann Powers of NPR, "they bring an incredible authority to songwriting and singing...enormous fearlessness and panache." They're currently developing an original musical about the life and work of artist Hilma af Klint.
