Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, REBEL TOWN plunges you into the heart of Boston's political crisis in 1773 as Parliament's Tea Act ignites a firestorm of resistance. Leading the charge is the rabble-rousing Sam Adams who rallies a town meeting to confront the tyranny with three tea ships anchored in Boston Harbor. Amidst the chaos, 13-year-old apprentice Peter Slater Jr. watches from Griffin's Wharf, yearning to join the Sons of Liberty as carpenter William Grey and his comrades guard the ships, preventing the customs officials from unloading the pernicious tea. From Liberty Tree gatherings to secret schemes at the Bunches of Grapes Tavern, these rebels alongside John Hancock, Paul Revere and Mercy Otis Warren grapple with the weight of their defiance, knowing they risk being branded traitors...or worse, being hanged for treason if caught.
An ensemble cast of actors from Boston, New York and the Berkshires bring REBEL TOWN to the stage. This theatrical experience is presented with colorful 18th century period costumes and innovative set design by Berkshire County's Ron Piazza.
With Book, Music & Lyrics by John Alan Segalla, REBEL TOWN explores the enduring theme of standing for liberty and captures the enduring spirit of freedom and the birth of America, promising a captivating journey of defiance, unity, and triumph.
