Me Like Bees at Duffy's Tavern
It's been more than a decade since the indie rock heyday of the mid-to-late aughts. Joplin, Missouri-based band Me Like Bees uses the perspective of the years since to their advantage, concocting an infectious brew from influences like The White Stripes, Modest Mouse, Alt-J, Spoon and many indie staples from then and now. Inspirations aside, Me Like Bees' biggest tie to the past is through the sharp, danceable songwriting that defined Brooklyn clubs, and later, festival grounds and amphitheaters.
New LP "Disco Two Step" is a collection of funk-indepted stompers that invite you to the dancefloor and ante up the intensity before you can think about taking a seat.
They play Duffy's on Tuesday, June 4. Local support TBA.
