Making Movies w/ Verse & The Vices and MMA at Duffy's Tavern
Kansas City band Making Movies is based in the Midwest, but their sound is derived from several worlds of influence, namely its members' cultural reference points from their Latin American and African heritage. The songs, sung in both English and Spanish, pull from merengue, cumbia, rumba and mambo to produce a rousing sound both celebratory and psychedelic.
The band performs at Duffy's Tavern in Lincoln on March 28 with help from local bands Verse & The Vices and MMA.

Bio: Psychedelic Panamanian band Making Movies is on a mission to reconnect with the rebellious spirit in Latin folk music and harness its power for today. Their music represents the culture of the Americas in a way that delivers the chills of hearing something singularly special, yet feels oddly familiar.
The Latin Grammy-nominated band has collaborated with Rubén Blades, presented at major international festivals, and toured alongside Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Las Cafeteras, Flor De Toloache, and many more.
In 2024, Making Movies will release their first live concert film and album, En La Sala, recorded at the historic Folly Theater in Kansas City. The band is also currently producing AMERIKANA TV an NEA-funded documentary series showing an alternate history of American music, furthering their mission for the world.
