In small-town Trinidad, DHANI is a dissatisfied man in his early 20s. He hangs out at bars with his high rolling friends, but he doesnt belong. Dhani always leaves the party early so that he can work the nightshift with his feisty mother, SUMINTRA, selling Doubles (the famous Trinidadian street-food). The two share the same dream of opening their very own brick-and-mortar restaurant.
After getting humiliated by a girl and Sumintra getting robbed at knife point, Dhani has lost his patience. His land-developing friend, PHILIP, offers hundreds of thousands of dollars for their land. But, its RAGBIR, Dhani's estranged father, a successful chef in Toronto, who owns the property. Against Sumintras wishes, Dhani decides to go to Toronto to confront Ragbir and get the land signed over to them.

BIO for post-screening discussion
Ian K. Harnarine was born in Toronto, Canada and is the son of immigrants from Trinidad & Tobago. He attended York University earning a Bachelors degree in Physics & Astronomy and a Masters degree in Nuclear Physics from the University of Illinois. He eventually became bored with Physics research, moved to Brooklyn and became a filmmaker. Harnarine has since earned an MFA from NYUs Graduate Film School. Harnarine is a member of the National Board of Review, The Television Academy and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Harnarines film Doubles With Slight Pepper (Executive Produced by Spike Lee), won the Best Short Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Canadian Academy Award. Caroni, about a West Indian domestic worker in New York, premiered at TIFF and continues to screen at festivals worldwide. Harnarine has made dozens of films for Sesame Street, one of which garnered an Emmy nomination. Party Done, Harnarines feature documentary about controversial crime reporter Ian Alleyne, played theatrically in the Caribbean. Harnarine was selected by Filmmaker Magazine as one of the 25 New Faces of Independent Film, profiled in the New York Times and named one of Playback Magazines Ten to Watch.
