Oliver Twist: Silent Film Performance
We are delighted to invite you to a unique Silent performance of the movie Oliver Twist with Rasaan Hakiem Bourke and special guest, Thomas Giles. Prepare to immerse yourself in this captivating experience as the entire soundtrack is improvised live!
The 1922 film adaptation of Oliver Twist is a silent film directed by Frank Lloyd. It tells the story of the young orphan Oliver and his struggles in a harsh and divided society. Oliver escapes from the workhouse, encounters a group of thieves led by Fagin, and ultimately finds refuge with a kind-hearted man named Mr. Brownlow. The film captures the themes of poverty and social injustice prevalent in Charles Dickens novel, using expressive visuals to convey emotions and depict the stark contrast between the lower and upper classes of Victorian London. Though it may lack the intricate details of the original story, the 1922 film remains a notable early cinematic interpretation of Oliver Twist and offers a glimpse into the silent film era.
