Real Women Have Curves
Real Women Have Curves is a stage play by Josefina López and is set in a tiny sewing factory in East Los Angeles. It is marked by the issues of gender politics and the Latina immigrant experience. The story is told from the point of view of Ana, the youngest employee at the factory.
The play conveys the theme of female empowerment because it is female-centric, successfully addresses the issues of body image, and focuses on women's independence and self-validation. Lopez's play serves as an example of what can happen when women uplift and depend on each other.
This production at Willie Agee Playhouse in Inglewood,CA is directed by Virginia Novello and stars Keyla Monterroso ("Abbott Elementary", "Curb Your Enthusiasm") as ANA, Jasmine Adriana (Upright Citizens Brigade) as ESTELA, Graciela Patino ("Legacy", "Wolves") as CARMEN, Magaly Castellanos ("Side Effects") as PANCHA, and Carla Molina as ROSALI.
