Lydia Fortune and Phil Nigro - Opening is Marylou Ferrante
Songwriting team Lydia Fortune and Phil Nigro have been
performing individually primarily in the Worcester MA for over 40 years. They joined forces in December 2010 and blending their well-developed eclectic musical styles, produced their first CD If I Had My Way in 2012. Their songs range from original contemporary to folk and early country blues. Past performance highlights include opening twice for Roger Salloom and Charles Neville in Western Ma, and for Maya Angelou at the Hanover Theatre, Worcester in 2012. They've been spotted in regional venues such as Black Briar Winery, Quail Hollow Country Club, Side Street Café, Boulder Coffeehouse, Nameless Coffeehouse, Amazing Arts Center Open Mic, and the recently closed Listening Room in Jaffrey, NH.

Marylou Ferrante was described by music critic and writer, Daniel Gewertz, in the Boston Herald, as the Bay State's finest female acoustic blues interpreter. She is a Worcester MA artist who performs pre-war blues from the 1920's & 30's. She covers major artists from the delta to east coast piedmont style players such as Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Blind Boy Fuller and Memphis Minnie along with mandolin players such as Yank Rachell. Her
passionate expression of these old songs comes from a love of the music and the arrangements themselves, as well as what she says is an appreciation for "the history of these folks and the difficult circumstances they endured." Marylou has honed her craft listening to the old recordings and learning from some of the great blues players today such as Paul Rishell, Guy Davis, Robert Jones and mandolin great Rich DelGrosso. Marylou has taught at The Cellar Studio, Salem MA . She has opened for the following professional touring artists: Chris Smither, Guy Davis, Paul Geremia and Geoff Bartley among others, as well as for the Boston Blues Festival and Wachusett Blues Festivals. Past performances include The Hatch Shell, Club Passim, Natick Center for the Arts, Tupelo Music Hall, Sally O'Briens, Cantab Lounge, The Bull Run and more. In 2010, Marylou was chosen as Worcester's Union Music Hometown Heroine.
