Trace Johnson and Hsin-I Huang
Arts + Literature Laboratory welcomes local cellist Trace Johnson and classical pianist Dr. Hsin-I Huang on Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $15 ($10 student/ALL member) in advance online, or $20 at the door for everyone. Doors open 7:00pm.

Cellist Trace Johnson is a musician from Madison, Wisconsin. Trace has appeared as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral musician in a wide variety of ensembles and settings around the world. Equally at home teaching in the studio or performing on stage, Trace is a devoted and thoughtful communicator who enjoys a varied career as a cellist, teacher, and musician.

Trace holds section cello positions at the Sarasota Orchestra in Sarasota, Florida and the Southwest Florida Symphony in Fort Myers, Florida; in Florida, he has performed with Miamis Nu Deco Ensemble, Sarasota Opera, Miami City Ballet, Palm Beach Symphony, Palm Beach Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Boca Symphonia, Orlando Philharmonic, Kravis Pops Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, Miami Symphony, Orchestra Miami, South Florida Symphony, and the New World Symphony. Trace has also performed with the Fresno Philharmonic in Fresno, California, the Madison Symphony Orchestra in Madison, Wisconsin, and in the Film-Score Orchestra in Nanjing, China.

Trace received his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2012 and his Masters of Music from Lynn Conservatory in December 2016; his principal instructors have been David Cole, Dr. Melissa Kraut, Joseph Johnson, and Dr. Tanya Carey. Trace is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music as a Collins Fellow studying with cellist and Feldenkreis practitioner, Uri Vardi.

Dr. Hsin-I Huang, Taiwanese-American classical pianist, has captivated audiences the world over with his emotional virtuoso performances by evincing masterfully dexterous playing and profound musical sensitivity. Over his illustrious career and with his impressive range, he has won high acclaim and numerous awards performing across the United States, Europe and Asia. As both a soloist and chamber musician, he maintains a rigorous performance schedule with some 60 concerts each year. He has released two solo albums: his 2015 debut Bach/Busoni-Brahms-Schumann and his 2016 follow-up Mighty Shadow  Rachmaninoff  Mussorgsky. Both albums are available on Apple iTunes and in 14,000 retail stores worldwide. Dr. Huangs third solo album is set to release this year.

Dr. Huang began his piano studies at the age of seven in Taiwan and moved to Graz, Austria at the age of 14 on a merit scholarship to continue his musical studies and to learn the German language and European culture and history. He moved to the United States for high school and college and achieved his doctorate in piano performance from Stony Brook University in 2019. Dr. Huang taught as an adjunct professor at Queens College of the City University of New York at the Aaron Copland School of Music. Dr. Huang is currently teaching at Kensington Wade School in London and selectively and privately for promising, high-achieving students.
