Billy Club
Decayed VHS footage of the Blue Birds' 1981 Little League championship game is juxtaposed with a sinister figure transforming a baseball bat into a terrifying weapon. Little Billy Haskins (Sebastian Jacobson Williams) strikes out losing the big game for the Blue Birds and a leather glove turns off a VHS camera that's been displaying the archival baseball footage inside of his cave. A spooled chain unravels into the dirt wall traveling outside and into a murky pond. Fast-forward to 1996. Beautiful Alison McKenzie (Erin Hammond) is surprised while bar tending by Bobby Spooner (Marshall Caswell), an old baseball teammate she hasn't seen in years, who came back to town for a funeral. He is quickly reintroduced to two other teammates, local bar flies Kyle Tripper (Nick Sommer) and Danny Evans (Max Williamson). The four of them reunite over a drunken game of baseball and reminisce on the innocence of their youth and it's inevitable fade. The gang decides to head up north to commemorate their dead coach and two fallen teammates with a memorial. As the movie progresses each character begins to experience flashbacks that piece together their secret past. After Billy lost the Blue Birds championship game, the team tied him up, locked him in a dunk tank and took turns throwing at the target. It was Alison's throw that finally sent Billy plunging into the water. Seeking revenge, Billy kills two teammates and displays them in the infield wearing baseball gloves with their arms propped up ready to play ball. Their beloved coach Fredricks is found dead in the dugout with a baseball bat jammed down his throat as the cops arrive to arrest little Billy. Back in present day, Alison, Bobby, Kyle and Danny share a brief but heartfelt tribute and set out to visit their coach's grave site. The group gets split up after a run in with local law enforcement lands Bobby in jail with a DUI. Danny heads back to their cabin while Kyle and Alison wandering the dark cemetery alone. Kyle and Alison finally stumble upon their coach's grave discovering that his body is missing. Alison reveals her feelings of guilt for their mysterious past while Kyle is certain that after all of these years their old teammate Billy Haskins has escaped from the insane asylum and is back to take his revenge on all of them. A mysterious man who's been secretly following the gang uncovers several old newspaper articles and missing person's reports revealing that their teammates have been disappearing. Flashbacks show a man suited in an antique umpires face mask and chest guard, has been killing old teammates and dragging their bodies away. One by one The Killer murders each of the teammates, until only Alison remains. Alison tries to escape through the woods when she stumbles upon a small pond. Along the shoreline she discovers a secret hatch that leads to an underground layer. Inside the layer Alison is shocked to find the skeletal remains of her dead coach. She jumps backwards accidentally releasing a chain that runs up to the surface and into the pond. Decayed bodies slowly start to rise from the pond wearing baseball gloves and Alison realizes that these are all of her dead teammates. The Killer appears and Alison takes off running into the woods. After submerging his victims back under water, The Killer has a flashback revealing that Bobby Spooner has been dead for a long time. Night falls and The Killer attacks Alison but she manages to knock him to the ground unconscious. Alison slowly pulls back The Killer's mask to reveal the face of Bobby Spooner. Slowly Alison realizes that Billy Haskins has actually been masquerading as their old teammate Bobby Spooner. Alison rolls Billy's unconscious body down a hill. Splashing into a stream, Billy enters a flashback. Inside his flashback Billy relives striking out and losing the baseball game. Alison's ball hits the target sending Billy splashing into the dunk tank. Unable to escape Billy drowns only to be revived by the Little League umpire who discovers his lifeless body. This sparks the beginning of Billy's killing rampage, embodying his alter ego as an umpire in control of his own twisted game. Billy snaps out of the flashback to realize his identity has been revealed. He sets out to find Alison and finish what he started, but she outsmarts him stabbing his side with a broken bat handle and locking him inside batting cage. Alison exclaims, 'the game's over Billy' and walks off into the darkness leaving Billy to bleed out. All alone in the cage Billy reveals his inner beast. As a final sacrifice Billy ties himself to the fence letting the pitching machine finish the game.
