J Powers Band
The drive behind this versatile band comes from the band leader and soulful vocalist - Joann Powers - formerly from Detroit Michigan - influenced by the Motown sound and sweet soul music. Starting her singing career at a very early age, she knew she wanted to be an entertainer. Lead vocalist for several well known bands (Kamage, Take Five, and Starlight), in the Detroit area and surrounding suburbs. Moved to Arizona in 1985, worked with a couple of local bands then decided to take a short hiatus from the music scene - in 2001 started her own band (The J Powers Band) and has been working ever since with some of the best musicians in town.
