All Aboard: The Life & Works of Marjorie Reed
Meet author Gary Fillmore who will present a lecture with Q&A showcasing his book about Marjorie Reed's life and her extraordinary talent for western portrayals at the newly renovated Seeley Stables Museum, 2648 Calhoun Street in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, followed by a book signing and wine and cheese reception.

ABOUT All Aboard! The Life and Works of Marjorie Reed
Marjorie Reed was a prominent 20th century Western artist best known for her paintings of the Butterfield-Overland Stage Trail. Reed made her living solely as a freelance artist for over 65 years and left behind a significant body of work. All Aboard! The Life and Works of Marjorie Reed offers the first comprehensive account of Reed's life and work. Beautifully illustrated with over 300 color plates of her paintings and scores of never-before-published personal photographs, this volume tracks her beginnings as a 16-year-old commercial artist in Los Angeles until the last painting on her easel at the time of her death six decades later.

ABOUT SEELEY STABLES
After Alfred (Albert) Lewis Seeley purchased La Casa de Bandini and converted it into the Cosmopolitan Hotel in 1868, he built a stable barn next to it. The building currently on the site is a reconstruction of the original. Born in Illinois in 1822 and a stagecoach driver since the age of 17, Seeley started the United States Mail Stage line. The Cosmopolitan Hotel and stables served as a depot for that stage line.
