IINTRODUCING THE SOPHIE FLORENCE TRIO Sophie Florence Prestwich, lead singer and flute, Phil Hirschi on guitar and vocals, and Chuck Jacob on string bass and mandolin. Sink back into the mid-20th century, to a night of nostalgia brought to you by the Sophie Florence Trio: revisit the songs of Ella Fitzgerald, Dina Washington and Patsy Cline. Relive the diverse array of songs that stamped themselves into our culture, like White Rabbit, Summertime, Love Potion Number 9, I Shall be Released, All of Me, House of the Rising Sun, Tennessee Waltz, and more!
The Sophie Florence Trio is headed by vocalist Sophie Florence Prestwich, a young British woman who met Yalies Chuck Jacob 73, of Brooklyn, NY, and Phil Hirschi 73, of Seattle, while all were in Queretaro, Mexico. Both men are seasoned musicians whove been in bands consistently since high school. Phil has toured extensively during his career and recorded and toured internationally with John McLaughlin. All three play a variety of instruments from flute to piano, to bass, to cello and guitar, and will make use of all in this sure-to-be-stunning Piedmont concert. Sophie, like the men, has had classical training as well as sharing a true love for this period of the Great American Songbook. She developed her passion for this era of American music early on and frequently as she got older was invited to sit in and perform with her Dads band in England.
Dont miss this one-night-only performance at Piedmont Center for the Arts as the trio kicks off their West Coast Tour.
