Moonlight Bay: A Rollicking Ragtime Romp
Join the Ted Lewis Museum and the Circleville Mens Barbershop Chorus on a Rollicking Ragtime Romp into the past to relive the music that was performed Circlevilles Grand Opera House at the turn of the century. Before radio, motion pictures or television, people flocked to the local opera house for culture and entertainment. Touring companies of the latest Broadway hits crisscrossed the country, bringing music, mirth and melodrama to the masses. Local talent shows gave budding stars like Theodore Friedman (Ted Lewis) their first chances to perform on stage. Erected in 1888, Circlevilles Grand Opera House brought these shows, and later movies, to what Ted called The Capital of the World until its untimely demolition in 1962. Hear the music Ted enjoyed during his halcyon days of youth while sneaking out of his fathers store to see the latest shows at the Opera House. Plus a special tribute to Pickaway County born 1900s recording superstar Corrine Morgan and Circleville native composer Sara Egan. Featuring The Circleville Mens Barbershop Chorus, A 12-piece orchestra under the direction of Joseph Rubin, and the vocal virtuosity of Matt Tolentino and Rachel Will in a mélange of melody and mirth. Enjoy all your favorite Tin Pan Alley hits By The Light of the Silvery Moon, Youre A Grand Old Flag, Take Me Out To the Ball Game, Down By The Old Mill Stream, and much more!
