The Owens Valley and the Los Angeles Aqueduct - Vision or Villainy -- Alex Beattie

Come and find out the real truth about the Owens Valley controversy. It is more intriguing than the movie Chinatown makes it be.
The Owens Valley is one of the more interesting areas in California and the Los Angeles Aqueduct is probably the most controversial water project ever carried out in California.
This course will present a treatment of the history, culture and physiography of the Owens Valley, the planning and implementation of the Los Angeles Aqueduct and the impact of the aqueduct on the economy, culture and environment of the Owens Valley. You'll be able to join in a class discussion about whether the Los Angeles Aqueduct was a visionary project or a villainous one.
If you want to read something before the course begins, the instructor suggests looking at various Internet sites;or reading "Water and Power" by William Karhl.
Alex Beattie is a former college professor with interest and knowledge of water and the Owens Valley.
This course has three class session: Tuesday, March 25, April 1 & April 8 from 10am-12noon at KCBX in SLO.
Purchasing a ticket for this course entitles you to attend all three sessions of this course.
