Spirits of the Season
We have the Victorians to thank for establishing many of the traditions we still associate with the modern celebration of Christmas, but as the popularity of Halloween rose throughout the 20th century, the practice of telling Yuletide ghost stories largely died out.
We at New School History feel it's time to bring back this ghoulish practice, so in an effort to celebrate #HappyHauntedDays, we will present dramatic readings of three such tales--in a poorly lit room of a Victorian home, of course!
In between the dramatic readings, visitors can partake of light refreshments, enjoy the sights of the historic Sawyer Homestead, which will be trimmed in style for Christmas, or explore seasonal Victorian parlor games aimed at predicting ones future.
Tickets are just $12 each, but space is limited, so purchase yours now!
Please Note: We will be reading from original Victorian writings; this program is recommended for guests aged 12 and up.
