Old School/New School, Featuring Beth Horner & Erin Diamond
The Live Lit/Storytelling phenomenon has exploded over the past several years in Chicago, but personal narrative is nothing new to the artists who have been practicing their craft over the last several decades.
These two generations will come together on March 1st to explore their common ground in a night of storytelling.
Beth Horner is a 30-year veteran storyteller who has performed and taught for NASA, featured at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, and appeared on stages of all types around the country.
Erin Diamond is an exciting new voice in the current wave of personal storytelling who has appeared on The Moth Mainstage, won the 2103 Skald competition, and appeared at venues all over Chicago.
Together, they will weave the stories of their life experiences into a seamless, cohesive performance piece right on front of your eyes.
General admission seating. Show runs 90 minutes with no intermission. Full bar. Dining available before and after show.
BIOS:
BETH HORNER has performed at The International Art of Storytelling Festival, the National Storytelling Festival, on Live From National Geographic, in prisons & mental health facilities, and is recipient of the National Storytelling Network's Circle of Excellence Oracle Award. Being absolutely dedicated to teaching the art of storytelling as well, Beth is sought after as a storytelling and writing coach. Most recently, she conducted a series of storytelling workshops for NASA Astrobiologists and served as narrative consultant for NASA/Johnson Space Center's StoryMining Project, through which she collected the stories of the scientists behind the Apollo Moon Missions. She has also produced seven recordings of her own work and a six-part storytelling series for radio. Beth is celebrating her 30th year of making her living as a touring storyteller and is looking forward to performing with Erin Diamond!
ERIN DIAMOND grew up in Arlington Heights and is a proud resident of Chicago's North Center neighborhood. Recently, she left her rewarding but consuming job working in mental health in order to focus more on writing and performing. Erin is frequently featured at the city's most popular storytelling and live lit series, and can also be seen improvising on stage all over Chicago. Erin has won numerous Moth Slams, has participated in several Moth Grand Slams, and was a featured performer on The Moth Mainstage. She is the 2013 WNEP Skald Storytelling Champion. Also, Erin is a die-hard Third Eye Blind fan...and she doesn't care who knows it!
