Christmas Oratorio at the Carmel Mission Saturday 12/10, 8pm
I Cantori di Carmel will present J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (Weihnachtsoratorium), Cantatas I-III in December. An annual tradition in Germany, this work tells the Christmas story in three parts. The first section describes the birth of Jesus, the second the announcement of the birth to the shepherds, and the third the adoration of the shepherds as they see the child.
For these performances, the soloists will be young professional singers and advanced voice students who have participated in I Cantori's new Vocal Arts Academy, a 4-day intensive seminar that will provide aspiring singers with training in all aspects of performance practice of Baroque music and Bach's work in particular.
Be sure to put this wonderful holiday program on your calendar!
I Cantori will no longer require proof of vaccination for audience members at our December concerts. However, masking will be strictly enforced. During this time of flu, RSV and COVID, we ask that you help protect the safety of the performers and fellow audience members by properly wearing your mask at all times while inside the concert venue.
Choir members are tested for COVID prior to each concert and will not be masked during the performance.
