Substance use disorder is a problem impacting families on many levels. This training examines the pressures families face when dealing with a family member in active use and in recovery. The presentation will look at symptoms of substance use disorder and how they impact families. We will also discuss the traits of family members that impact ones substance use. The course will guide clinicians to better support their clients families on how to identify markers of problematic use and also discuss the resources available to families and the role of the clinician in making a referral.
