Training Session: Trauma-Informed, Holistic Legal Supervision
As legal advocates strive to be more trauma-informed and antiracist in their practice, supervisors and organizational leaders struggle with providing the level of support needed to engage in anti-oppression work. Colleagues at all levels continue to struggle with burnout, capacity, vicarious trauma, and structural racism, and the effects are reverberate throughout relationships with clients, communities, and stakeholders. This training will introduce advocates to supervision and management frameworks designed to foster work environments that are sustainable, adaptable, and collaborative across differences while promoting equity. We will introduce how systems and design thinking principles might be used to workshop some of our toughest legal practice management problems, such as intake, caseload & capacity management, supervision, and legal services delivery. This training is designed to be an overview of trauma-informed, holistic supervision as applied in the non-profit direct services context; however, supervisors from other disciplines may benefit as well.

Attorneys, legal workers, advocates, and organizers. Supervisors are the main target audience; however, supervisees may find this training useful in navigating their relationships with their supervisors.

All participants will be provided with a copy of the slide deck, a participant manual, and access to collaborative tools to enhance learning, such as Miro.

This session follows the same curriculum as the training conducted on May 19, 2022.

This is an interactive, 2-hour training. This training is conducted in large-group, lecture format and does NOT include small group application or workshopping. Participants who want the added value of small group application should also sign up for an Application Workshop on July 21 or 22, 2022. Application Workshops are limited in capacity, to encourage deeper learning and collaboration. Participants of Application Workshops will have access to a Google Group and Discord to remain in contact with other participants. To attend an Application Workshop, you MUST have attended the corresponding training session.

A recording will be available for viewing to registrants for 30 days.

Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the training and the restrictions of CLE regulations, CLE credit is not available for this training.
