Juneteenth Ukulele Celebration

Celebrate Juneteenth with song! Emancipation for slaves in the U.S. may have officially begun in 1863, but many areas of the country didn't get the news until June 19, 1865. We'll dip into the deep well of music from the Black experience, learning a little history and learning to play songs of freedom and empowerment. Co-led by Angela Alston, who will share her experiences growing up with many of these songs.

All levels welcome - including folks who would just like to sing! We'll cover ukulele techniques to add texture to your playing. You'll get the most out of this class if you can maintain a fairly steady strum and change with relative ease among these chords: G, G7, C, D, D7, Dm, A, Am, E7, F. Baritone chords not covered.
