HOT JAZZ AT THE GALLERY With THE JARED HALL QUARTET
Continuing our monthly schedule of live jazz performances at FREDERICK HOLMES AND COMPANY GALLERY in Pioneer Square, Seattle, we're proud to present acclaimed Jazz trumpeter, JARED HALL, accompanied by his group of accomplished players: JOHN HANSEN on piano; GREG FEINGOLD on bass; and MATT JORGENSEN on drums.

Trumpeter, composer and educator JARED HALL hails from Spokane, Washington. He studied at Whitworth University, the Indiana University Jacobs School Of Music and the University Of Miamis Frost School Of Music, where he received the degree Doctor of Musical Arts in 2015. Hall is the winner of the 2013 National Trumpet Competition  Jazz Division, and has performed and recorded with Paquito DRivera, Bob Hurst, John Daversa, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Schneider, Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, Alan Pasqua, Brian Lynch, Ira Sullivan, Jeff Tain Watts, Terence Blanchard, Rick Margitza, Wycliffe Gordon, Johnny Mathis, George Benson, Gloria Estefan, and many others.

Halls recording credits include his albums Seen on the Scene (Origin Records, 2021) and Hallways (Hollistic MusicWorks, 2017). Other recordings include Inventions (OA2 Records, 2021), Cheap Thrills: The Music of Rick Margitza (Summit, 2020), North By Freaking Northwest (Skymuse, 2019), Jazz & The Philharmonic (OKeh, 2014), With Love (Jeremy Fox, 2014), Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole (George Benson, 2013) and others.

Based in Seattle since 2015, Hall has performed with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Symphony Tacoma, the 5th Avenue Theatre and many of the region's outstanding ensembles. His quintet performed regularly at Tulas Jazz Club, the 2018 Gene Harris Jazz Festival, 2019 Puget Sound Jazz Combo Festival, and 2021 Bellevue Jazz Festival.

JOHN HANSEN is regarded as one of the most in-demand jazz pianists in the Northwest. A studied and musical ensemble player with a strong melodic vocabulary, John has always been recognizable for a unique personal voice.

His performance history includes such venues as NYC's Birdland, The Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, DC's John F. Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts, Seattle's Jazz Alley and Tula's, and international festivals and tours in France, Japan, Korea, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Russia and Central America. During his career, John Hansen has performed and recorded with many of the Northwest's premiere, award-winning bands including: the Jay Thomas Quartet, Jim Knapp Orchestra, Kelley Johnson, and The Bill Ramsay-Milt Kleeb Band with Pete Christlieb. He has been invited to perform with The Seattle Symphony, Rick Margitza, Randy Brecker, Ingrid Jensen, Ernestine Anderson, The Woody Herman Orchestra, Bud Shank, Bobby Shew, David 'Fathead' Newman, and more.

GREG FEINGOLD  started playing bass at the age of 10. He quickly realized that bass was something he would pursue for the rest of his life and was accepted to the Chicago Academy for the Arts. After graduating from the Academy, Greg was given a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, e began playing with the International String Trio and performing regularly with Berklee faculty such as Bill Pierce, Neal Smith, Jon Hazilla, Doug Johnson, Rebecca Cline and many others. After graduating, Greg moved to New York and began playing in Winard Harper's Jelli Posse. Throughout his stay in New York, he worked with legendary jazz performers such as Jimmy Cobb, Eric Reed, Eric Harland, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Turre, Jim Rotondi, Jackie Ryan, Stephen Scott as well as continuing to tour with the International String Trio and the Valinor Quartet.

Greg moved to Seattle in 2015 to change his surroundings and currently performs with a variety of groups around the west coast. He can be seen performing regularly with Thomas Marriott, Julian MacDonough, Miles Black and other great local Seattle musicians. He also co-leads the 200 Trio which performs around the country as one of the up and coming jazz guitar trios In addition to performing all over the world, Greg also teaches at Western Washington University specializing in improvisation. He teaches a full studio in addition to several ensembles.

MATT JORGENSEN, Since moving back to Seattle in 2002 after 10 years in New York City, has been active in all aspects of the Seattle jazz scene. He has recorded four CD s with his group Matt Jorgensen +451 for Origin Records, and has toured extensively from New York to LA and in 2003 picked up an award for Best Acoustic Jazz Group by Earshot Jazz.

As a sideman he is frequently called on by an impressive list of musicians including Peter Bernstein, Eric Alexander, Bill Mays, Vincent Herring, George Colligan, Reggie Workman, Tim Ries, Chuck Leavell and others.

Matt is also a founder and co-Artistic Director of the Ballard Jazz Festival and has produced jazz concerts in association with Bumbershoot and others.
