BIMA smARTfilms series fosters community conversation through the merger of visual art, film, and narrative. After the screening, our host and guest(s) will initiate a discussion about the film and its art. All are welcome to participate in an open exchange of ideas during these post-film discussions.
BOOMTOWN - An exploration of the celebration and impact of "Independence Day" - July 4th - on the Suquamish reservation, told through the lens of native-Americans who earn a substantial portion of their livelihood through the sale of fireworks. Director Bryan Gunnar Cole and Benny and Nic Armstrong of the Suquamish Tribe will attend. (2002 - 75 minutes - Rated PG)
The film will be followed by a hosted discussion about the film with Kathleen Thorne & Bryan Gunnar Cole.
