UTS Presents "The Children's Hour"
Directed by: Kalea Levy and Taylor Freeman Written by: Lillian Hellman
DESCRIPTION The Childrens Hour is set in the 1930s and tells the story of two women Karen Wright and Martha Dobie, owners of the Wright-Dobie School for Girls in Lancet, Massachusetts. After being wrongfully accused of homosexual activity with each other by one of their troubled students, outrage and intolerance comes from their community, with the students being withdrawn by their families and the school being shut down. The two women confront their accusers in court in a libel suit, but lose despite the accusation being based on a lie. Despite losing everything they have worked for, there is one secret that has yet to be revealed.
CONTENT WARNING Depictions of suicide and gunshot noise. Be advised that this all happens offstage and no jarring images are being depicted in front of the audience.
COVID-19 SAFETY COVID-19 vaccination and masks (a non-cloth N95, KN95, KF94 or surgical mask rather than a cloth mask alone) are required. We will be checking for your proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test within the past 72 hours at the door.
Note: Ticket sales end 12 hours before the performance begins! On the day of the show, there will always be approximately 15 tickets reserved for purchase at the door.
UTS TICKET POLICY Because late entrances and seating can be disruptive to both actors and audience members, doors will be roped off promptly at 2:00 PM or 7:30 PM depending on if the show is a matinee or an evening performance. Please plan ahead and give yourself ample time for travel, parking, and other necessary allowances. If you have not claimed your tickets by 2:00 PM or 2:00 PM, they will be released for any patrons on our wait list for that night's performance.
The Undergraduate Theater Society does not provide refunds, though, in specific circumstances, arrangements can be made to attend alternate performance dates; contact uts@uwuts.org or Sam Jemuelle Quiambao at 206 788 6840
